The Boundary Commission has now completed its 2023 Review of Constituency Boundaries. As a result the Wybunbury Ward will be moving out of the Crewe & Nantwich Constituency and joining the new Chester South and Eddisbury Constituency.
Of course this involves a fair amount of organisation and today Wybunbury Ward Conservatives met at the home of the Wybunbury Ward Councillor, Janet Clowes, to discuss how the transfer (or ‘vesting’) process operates and how the ward will interact with its new Association and wider membership.
It was therefore very special to be able to welcome the Rt Hon. Penny Mordaunt MP (Leader of the House of Commons), who joined us on her way to other commitments in the North, together with local MP Dr Kieran Mullan.
Over a buffet lunch, members were able to discuss the boundary changes, consider the local and national political environment and the process for selecting a new MP candidate for the new Constituency (as a result of the decision of the current incumbent Edward Timpson, not to stand at the next General election).
There is still much work to be done ( a task that is being repeated in Constituencies across the Country) as Local Authorities, Political Parties and Associations prepare the Boundary Commission’s new Constituency footprints in time for the next General Election, which must be called before the end of January 2025.
