Cheshire East Councillors attending Manchester Airport today were invited to tour Concorde - one of the most iconic designs in aeronautical engineering!
Conservative Councillors had been invited to visit the airport, part of which lies within the boundaries of the Borough, for a formal Manchester Airport Information Briefing
After wrestling with the technicalities of airport planning, future airspace, consideration of customer complaints and community liaison, Councillors were invited to tour the air museum area and explore Concorde (which was decommissioned some years ago).
Cllrs Lesley Smetham (Gawsworth Ward), Kate Parkinson (High Legh Ward) and Marc Asquith (Chelford Ward) explored the cockpit, tested the chairs, examined the undercarriage and basically had an amazing time!
- Certainly NOT an everyday occurrence in the life of a Councillor but much appreciated!
