ITV have been touring Cheshire over the past few days to find out first-hand what Conservative Party Members are looking for in the next Conservative Party Leader and Prime Minister.
The team visited new Wilmslow Town Councillor Hannan Sarwar who explained how he discussed “the current political situation in Westminster and how important it is for our new prime minister to work on many issues”.
Cllr Janet Clowes and Cllr Rachel Bailey were joined by ITV News at Crewe Station this morning to discuss the Conservative Leadership Contest and what any future Leader / Prime Minister needs to deliver; for Crewe, the HS2 “Gateway to the North”, to Cheshire East to promote economic growth and regeneration in Macclesfield and our Market Towns and how best to move away from ‘London-centric’ government to really address the North-South divide.
As the ITV crew moved onto Knutsford this afternoon, the results of the first sift were coming through and the first three candidates eliminated. The process continues!
