Crewe-based firm Whitby Morrison makes successful bid for Guinness World Record!
Whitby Morrison is world-renowned for its production of ice cream vans and today, at Wychwood Park, Chorlton (south of its Crewe factory), together with the Guinness World Record Team, over 90 ice cream vans and their drivers congregated to form the longest moving convoy of ice cream vans ... ever! Ward Councillor Janet Clowes joined the convoy before the record-breaking attempt in the car park of the Wychwood Park Hotel and had the opportunity to speak with Ed Whitby about the event.
The idea came about following last year’s annual ‘end of summer season’ meeting at Nantwich Football ground. Ed admitted “It’s been very hard work getting it all organised and working with the Guinness World Record Team to make sure the attempt is robust but it’s great to have so many vans answer the call!”
The convoy travelled 2 miles, each van just 10m part. The attempt was successful and celebrated with ..... free ice cream! All monies raised by this unique and historic event will be donated to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, London and St Luke’s Hospice, here in Cheshire
