Cheshire East on schedule to open 30 Connected Community Centres
The 28th Centre was opened today at the Stapeley Community Centre, Nantwich.
Local Police Officers and CE Community Officers have been supporting local residents in developing the use of the Hall for several months, enabling local groups to meet, socialise and engage in activities that are important to their well-being and community cohesion.
This little gem of a resource, was built from S106 monies provided as part of this development and offers changing facilities for sports activities on the adjacent, small multi-use games area (MUGA), an office (where the Police Officers or Social Workers offer out-reach services), a compact but perfectly designed kitchen and spacious hall (that can be subdivided if necessary).
Local residents and Parish Councillors described their recent work to make the centre ‘dementia-friendly’ and the development of several local walking routes suitable for all ages and abilities. The event was attended by Cllr Peter Groves who represents the Nantwich South Ward with Cllr Andrew Martin which includes the Stapeley area. Cllr Janet Clowes also attended who represents the neighbouring Wybunbury Ward and who has responsibility for Social Care and Communities.
The event was well attended and guests were treated to tea and a delicious selection of home-baked cakes from the ladies who run “Tea at the Tower” at St Mary’s Church in Acton!
