5th July 2018: The National Health Service turns 70!
It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most loved institutions, to appreciate the vital role the service plays in our lives, and to recognise and thank the extraordinary NHS staff – the everyday heroes – who are there to guide, support and care for us, day in, day out.
In turn, the Royal Stoke Hospital shared their special birthday with local people who were born in their hospital on the same day! Mr Maurice Simon (husband of our own Cllr Margaret Simon) shares his 70th birthday with Rosemary Astbury and they are both seen here cutting the Royal Stoke University Hospital’s birthday cake. Thank you Royal Stoke for involving them in your celebrations and for making them feel very special!
