The 2019 Nantwich Food Festival Weekend is well underway with over 50,000 visitors predicted to attend!
The Festival was launched on Friday Evening by David Briggs MBE, KStJ. Lord Lieutenant Of Cheshire together with Christine Farrell (Festival Director),Cllr Barry Burkhill (Mayor of Cheshire East) and Cllr Arthur Moran (Mayor of Nantwich) and his Consort, Cllr Carole Thomas (Nantwich TC). Nantwich South Councillors Andrew Martin and Peter Groves together with Cllr Janet Clowes (CEC Conservative Group Leader) and Dr Kieran Mullan (C&N PPC) were also in attendance.
The event has been well-supported by a range of local business sponsors, CEC and guest local and regional chefs who have been sharing their expertise and passion for food and recipes!
Visitors have had the opportunity to explore an enormous range of stalls and events each showcasing local produce, culinary enterprises and offering delicious tastes and sips of all that south Cheshire has to offer!
Of course none of this would be possible without the army of committed volunteers ably organised by the Food Festival Organising Committee and Nantwich Town Council. Our own Cllr Andrew Martin (Nantwich South) and his wife Linda have taken on the responsibility of of organising the Civic Hall Celebrity Chef demonstrations (including Rosemary Shearer and Sean Wilson), whilst Dr Kieran Mullan entered in to the spirit of the weekend to help the team in essential waste management duties!
Over 100 volunteers have contributed their time and efforts this year to make this year’s Festival an amazing success - it would not be possible without them - they are amazing!
