Poynton Councillors supporting the delivery of the Poynton Relief Road
The full benefits of the new A555 road (also known as SEMMMS and the A6MARR) in reducing traffic through the village will not be seen until the southern section of the Poynton Relief Road is completed. This important relief road will run for about two miles from the new A555 to London Road, near Adlington golf course and the Travel Lodge Hotel.
A public enquiry into the new road was held last year (2018) and assuming that the Inspector approves the road, it will then need to be approved by the Transport Minister. Our voice at Westminster, David Rutley MP, will work with Poynton’s Conservative councillors, Jos Saunders, Mike Sewart, Mike Beanland and Howard Murray, to ensure this is done as soon as possible. At this point, Cheshire East Council will appoint a contractor, with the aim of starting work in 2020.
