Jake Berry MP visited our Constituencies’ Afternoon Tea Event today to discuss his role on the ‘Back Boris’ Team and to answer Conservative Members’ questions about Boris Johnson as one of the two remaining Leadership candidates before the Ballot of members that will determine the next Prime Minister.
Local Members did not hold back with their questions ranging from Brexit matters (of course), HS2, addressing the economics of the north-south divide and the Leadership skills of Boris Johnson.
It was an interesting afternoon of lively debate over copious cups of tea, sandwiches, cakes, scones and clotted cream.
The ‘straw poll’ at the end of the event was pretty evenly spread; 1/3 for Boris, 1/3 for Jeremy Hunt and 1/3 waiting for further information before making up their minds - perhaps reflecting the fact that this campaign is still in its very early stages!
