Dane Valley Ward Councillors Les Gilbert and Andrew Kolker had to think outside the box when invited recently, to escort Cheshire East Council’s recently appointed CEO, Lorraine O’Donnell on the first of her planned Ward tours since taking up office.
With the Covid-19 lock down already in place, it wasn’t possible to escort Ms O’Donnell in person so Les and Andrew produced their own video-tour of the Ward that they could share with her and point out issues of interest or concern!
Having represented the area since the inception of Cheshire East in 2009, Les and Andrew were well placed to impart their in-depth knowledge of local issues. They focused on highways, parking, planning applications and the infrastructure pressures arising from the ongoing population growth.
Of course they were also able to highlight some of the Ward’s special features and projects including the World Heritage site, Jodrell Bank, the Connected Communities Centres across the Ward and how they were able, with the Town Council and the Council’s ESAR Leisure company to facilitate the setting up of the Holmes Chapel Community Centre and Gym.
Thre is no doubt that despite the Covid restrictions, Lorraine O’Donnell has had a thorough introduction to the Dane Valley Ward and now has a better understanding of residents’ concerns.
