It is with deep regret that we must inform you of the death on Monday of our former Colleague, friend and Member for Congleton, Roland Domleo.
Roland was both an Honorary Alderman and Honorary Freeman of Cheshire East and served on Cheshire East Council from its inception in 2008 until 2015 where he was both Deputy Leader and where he held the Portfolio for Adult Social Care until 2013.
Prior to the creation of Cheshire East, Roland Domleo was a Congleton Borough Councillor and served as Leader of that Council helping to inform and manage the re-organisation process.
Cllr Janet Clowes (CEC Conservative Group Leader) on hearing the news stated;
“This is very sad news and I know that Roland will be very much missed by all his Congleton and Council colleagues. He was a knowledgeable and generous mentor to me when in 2011, I was appointed as his Cabinet Support member and his experience and knowledge in the social care field was invaluable when he made the decision to stand down from his Cabinet role on health grounds.
I know that all those who knew Roland will join me in sending our deepest sympathies to Roland’s family at this sad time”
The Cheshire East Flag is being flown at half mast today as a mark of respect. Funeral arrangements will be circulated in due course.
